Club Notes 4th July 2016

Pomeroy Na Pluínceídí CLG notes for 4th July 2016
Centenary Celebration Fun Day
It all started early on Sunday past at 9am when about 100 runners hit the 5k distance for an historic run to all the previous pitches used by the Plunketts since 1916. First was  from Delmanges field (present day pavilion) then we took off to the Station Rd and then through Corrigans yard to the old Shamrock Park (aka McGeough’s field) where GAA stalwarts played and won their first title in 1935 , then on to the old Gaelic Park (aka Joe Bán’s field) down by Derryhash for a lap of the old sod before the tight climb back through the town to Plunkett Park. Packie Quinn was first home in under 20 mins. Super stuff.
Thanks to all who took part and particularly to the stewards.
We were then blessed with great weather for the fun day which started in earnest at 1pm. A super days entertainment at Plunkett Park included the Rat Trap where Enda Kilpatrick, Ollie McCreesh, Marty McNally and Chairman Brendan Fullen were all victims of the baying crowd. Medals were presented to all who took part in the sporting events and thanks to all who participated in the vintage rally. Great fun was had on the climbing wall, clay pigeons, archery, horse and cart ride, bag toss and special mention to the Scór ballad group who performed in the marquee and to compare Denis Devlin. One slight disappointment was the disqualification of Fergal Quinn from the egg and spoon race after a stewards enquiry found traces of super glue on his spoon. Many thanks to all who came out and supported our centenary fun day and to all volunteers who contributed in any way. Lets keep up the momentum in this special centenary year. We appreciate your support so much. Many thanks again.
Mens – Well done to Tyrone seniors on the win over Cavan. There are no senior or reserve games for the next few weeks as the lads are off for the summer break. The U21’s play Omagh on Tuesday then Loughmacrory on Friday night. U14 have a game on Monday night against Edendork at 7:15pm.
Ladies – U12 training on Monday nights at 6pm sharp and any new players wishing to join are welcome. The girls also play Galbally this Thursday in the U12 league with throw in at 7pm. Parents are urged to bring the girls out for training. The U14’s lost out to a strong Edendork side in the league final last Friday night. Unlucky girls but well done in reaching the final. U16 training continues on Monday and Wednesday nights at 7:30pm.
The winning numbers for 27th June were 8, 13, 16, 21 & 24 .  8 winners matched 3 . Jackpot now stands at a whopping £8600 so get in there.
