Dedicated clubmen such as Sean are such a rarity. Often referred to as The Plunketts “16th Man” he loved the club and was so enthusiastic about all things GAA.
You don’t have to look too hard through our gallery to see Sean’s smiling face at a Dinner Dance in 1964. Indeed, if you were to ask any players about Sean, they would all say that not only did he attend all of the games but you could be sure that he also attended all the training sessions and could always tell you which guys were “flying in training”.
There is no doubt what-so-ever that if they were giving out awards for the best ever Umpire, Sean would certainly have been well up there.
It was with profound sadness that we learned of the passing of our Honorary Vice President. He passed away peacefully at his home in Gortnagarn last Wednesday morning. The Plunketts send their sincerest condolences to his wife Madeline, to his sons and daughters, Collette, Andrew – our serving Club Secretary, Eilis, Hugh andCarmel, to his grandchildren, his sons and daughters in law and to his whole family circle.
Sean, you will be sorely missed by all involved with our Club.
May he rest in peace.
