Ladies Miss Out On Final Spot

The girls were in the semi final of the Championship on Friday 6th May when they faced Urney.
This was never going to be an easy game as this was to be the 3rd time the girls have met in a number of weeks. The last time we met the Plunketts won the League final in a very high scoring game with the best football the girls had played all season. But Urney were not going to be out done and both teams gave their all on the day, the Plunketts cailins taking control and pulling ahead in the 1st half, 1.5 – 0.4. But in the second half we could not penetrate the Urney defence but they continued to push through and pulled back the score and in the dying minutes of the game the game was still to be anyones with 2 points in it. The Plunketts pushed through and when the goalie made a save we put over a point to bring it down to a point but that was to be the last score of the game as the referee blew up the game.
The Committee would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the girls and their management, Felix Nugent and Nuala McNamee, on their successful season, which saw them lift the first silverware for the Plunketts when they beat Urney in the league final, the girls won all their games except for this last game in which Urney beat them by a point. Final score Pomeroy 1-8 Urney 1-9.
