MINOR GIRLS

Pomeroy 2-11 Moy 3-7

Well done to the management of Ciaran and Catriona McKenna and to the whole of the minor girls team who won the grade 4 league final on Saturday evening in Clonoe against Moy.

This was one of the games of the season with superb football from both teams but the sheer determination and fitness of the Plunketts pulled them through. A great game from start to finish which entertained the supporters till the very end which saw the Plunketts cailins win by one point to lift the cup.

Michaela McGuigan opened the scoring with a goal scored from a free, Moy replied with two points and then a goal. With unanswered points from Paula Molloy, Helena Grimes, three points from Michaela McGuigan and a goal and a point from Michaela McNamee before Moy got the last point of the first half. Half time score 2-6 to 1-3.

Moy stepped up and opened the scoring with two goals and three points put them three points up. The Plunketts girls rose to the challenge and had most of the play with some great team work and Eimear McKenna got the scoring going again and Jane made a great run from full back to put over a point, Moy got another point but Michaela McNamee put over another point and when Jane won the ball again in full back and came all the way up the field to put it over to even up the sides and Michaela McNamee put over the winning score to become the first minor ladies team to win a league in Pomeroy.
