Sen/Res Vs Newtownstewart

The seniors and reserves were home on Saturday 23rd April to Newtownstewart.
The reserves were out in full force on Saturday and performed well, outplaying the visitors for the majority of the game. Full time score Newtownstewart 3-10 Pomeroy 4-13.

Mark McKenna opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of the game when he put over a free and Newtonstewart quickly replied with a point. Kevin Armstrong and Sean Murphy each put over 2 scores but Newtownstewart pulled away in this period scoring 6 points. Then Newtownstewart broke through the defence and went for goal but Marty McCreesh pulled of an incredible save. Newtownstewart were able to put over 2 more scores in this half and with Mark McKenna putting over another free that was to conclude the scoring. In the 32nd minute Ciaran Cunningham got a second yellow and was off. Half time score Pomeroy 0-6 Newtownstewart 0-9.

And again with 14 men, the Plunketts came out hungrier in the second half and within the first 10 seconds Mark McKenna had put over a point, followed by John Loughran, Sean Quinn and another free put over by Mark McKenna before Newtownstewart knew what had hit them. It was the 13th minute before they were able to penetrate the defence to put over 3 quick points. But only on the field Justy McCaffery quickly got his name onto the score sheet. The Plunketts work rate at this stage of the game was intense with no way Newtownstewart could break through to get another score. Sean Murphy getting the equalising point and with a very unfortunate tackle saw Ronan Quinn get a second yellow and had to leave the field and in the last minute of the game Justin McCaffery put over the winning point.
This was an end to end game with some brilliant displays from the Plunketts. Final score Pomeroy 0-13 Newtownstewart 0-12.
