Well done to the U16 boys and their managers on winning the Championship Final on Saturday against Kildress.
This was a nail biting game till the very last kick, although Pomeroy remained in the lead throughout the game, Kildress were applying pressure until the end whistle.
James Quinn opened the scoring for the Plunketts with a point which Kildress were quick to reply to. Followed by a point from Ryan Loughran and Aidan Woods was there to hammer home a well worked goal giving the Plunketts a 4 point lead. Great free taking from Ryan Loughran and Ruairi Begley giving the boys a 6 point cushion before Kildress were able to penetrate the tight defence and put over 2 points. With points from Aidan Woods and Kildress just before half time, this game was well and truly on for both teams. Half-time score 1.5 – 0.4.
Kildress opened the scoring and Ryan Loughran replied by putting over a free. 2 more points from Kildress and another fantastic free from Ryan and another exchange of points from Kildress and Ryan making the score to 1.8 to 0.8. Gavin Goodfellow put over the next 2 points for the Plunketts to give a 5 point lead and Kildress narrowed the gap again with another point. With the end is sight Kildress got themselves the much needed goal to bring the game down to 1 point. With a point from Pauric Cunningham to give Pomeroy a 2 point lead, the end whistle was blown, and everyone could breathe a sigh of relief and start the well-earned celebrations.
